The dressings are indicated for chronic wounds such as leg ulcers and pressure sores, and acute wounds such as superficial burns, superficial partial thickness burns, donor sites, postoperative wounds, and skin abrasions. Depending on the specific wound characteristics, the dressing can remain in place for up to 7 days. Comfeel Plus can be used as a primary or secondary dressing. Assured Protection Comfeel Plus hydrocolloid dressings provide a moist wound healing environment and help protect the wound in the final stages of wound healing. The overlay is water and bacteria repellent to help protect the wound from external aggressions, and is smooth to help reduce friction. The semipermeable overlay maintains a moist healing environment while allowing moisture evaporation. Wound Monitoring Comfeel Plus hydrocolloid dressings feature a mapping grid for wound monitoring and dressing change indicator. Mechanism of action When the dressing comes into contact with wound exudate, it forms a viscous gel that absorbs the exudate but does not adhere to the wound bed. Product composition Comfeel Plus consists of hygroscopic sodium carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) particles contained in a synthetic, elastic, adhesive mass.
